The Geek Factor of +NibblesNbits aka "Jimmy the Geek"
Outside the building where I work.Profession: IT Support Admin-Technician.

Background: Studied Computer Languages and Data Processing in 1980, on HP 2000 computers connecting via 300 baud dialup couplers from our DEC printing terminals.

In 1981 the microcomputer revolution was underway and I adapted my skill set to the TRS-80, Apple, CP/M, and type computers.  My summer job that year was to migrate the Vanier College computer lab from punch cards jobs and mainframes to 5-1/4" floppies and NorthStar (CP/M based) microcomputers.

Current Education: In 2000, I updated my computer knowledge by enrolling in the Networking program at CDI(Delta) College.  In 2001 I was hired onto the Networking faculty of CDI after graduating with highest honors.

Current Skill set: Microsoft Operating Systems (95 / 98 / 2000 / Me / XP / Vista (Longhorn), Microsoft Server 2000 and 2003, Microsoft Office Systems, System Security+, Spyware Removal, Novell, Networking+, A+, Remote (Internet) Access, and MCSE and MOSC training by Microsoft trainers at the MVP Academy.

Current Position: Tier 2 support at the Enterprise Applications Center of Expertise for one of the worlds largest printing, imaging, personal computer, server, network, and storage companies.  Can you guess which company? <wink>  I specialize in support for Microsoft Office products, Blackberry / IPAQ hand held devices, Laptops, User Shell issues, centrally administered Antivirus and Firewall solutions, PC Backup solutions, Lotus Notes, Digital Badge, Smart Card/Keys, Faxination, Internet Explorer, Spyware,  Reflections, connectivity (LAN, WLAN, RAS, VPN, Internet, Dialup, etc.), and process specific applications

Pastimes, Hobbies, Likes and Dislikes?
Rock and Roll! I enjoy rock bands past and present, as long as they have the right sound.  Even though I prefer rock, fear not ladies, I enjoy sharing family shows, good meals, and nights spent out on the town.

Although I've had the good fortune to sample the finest food from some of the worlds best chefs, which is an advantage of living in Montreal, I still prefer a tender, juicy, well seasoned, thick cut rib steak the most.  Mmmmm steak..

With an appetite like mine, I make sure to workout at least six times a week at the local 'Y' to keep in shape... and NO, I don't consider rotund to be a shape in this context.  J

I enjoy reading, however instead of novels, I find myself mostly reading technical books and newsgroup or forum postings.  In fact, it's because of the help I've given people who post their computer problems in the Microsoft newsgroups over the years that I've won the MVP Award 3 years in a row. (My MVP Profile)

What else do I do in my spare time?  Well, if you haven't noticed a geek pattern yet, you will now:  What other spare time I have, I spend participating in Beta's.  I'm on several beta testing teams:  Symantec, Microsoft Internal Beta Groups (Client and Server Operating Systems, Consumer Applications, IE, OE, MSN, etc.), and of course I get to test a lot of new equipment at work.

I enjoy beta testing PC Games as much as I enjoy playing them.
My Favorite PC Games:
HALO, AOE III, DS II, and Fable.

Dislikes: I dislike focusing on negative things. Think positive. J

Who I am?
Jimmy's Mugshot. Click here to visit my MVP profile! Wow! You're still reading? Thanks! J I guess I'll add a little more personal information then...

I'm a born and raised Canadian residing in Montreal, in the beautiful province of Quebec.
I'm 6 foot tall; 185 pounds; brown hair and eyes.

My parents have lived in Canada since the 60's and were both born in Greece.  My Mom is a cultured and educated lady from Crete, birthplace of the legendary Zeus,  and the origin of the modern Greek and European civilization as it's known today.  My Dad is from Sparta, and fits the Spartan tradition of brave and strong men very well.  Everyone should be proud of their origin.

Stevenson sure doesn't sound Greek, does it? J  Although I'm proud of both my heritages, I anglicized my name as a child to  make it easier to pronounce during class attendance calls, and it now serves as an extra layer of protection against identity theft.
